The Break O’Day 1:100,000 Topographic Map provides regional-scale coverage of the Break O’Day district and surrounding landscape. At 1:100,000 scale, 1 centimetre on the map represents 1 kilometre on the ground, making it useful for historical research, regional orientation, education, map collections and comparison with more recent mapping.

This is Edition 2, produced in 1979, and uses the Australian Geodetic Datum 1966 — AGD66.

Tasmania’s 1:100,000 topographic mapping series has been archived following the introduction of the more detailed 1:50,000 series. With original stock depleted, the Break O’Day sheet is now supplied print on demand in standard paper, waterproof Tyvek® and laminated formats.

At this scale, 1 centimetre represents 500 metres, providing twice the ground detail of the archived Break O’Day sheet.

Important Datum Information

This map uses AGD66, an older Australian datum that differs significantly from GDA94 and GDA2020. Coordinates read from this map should not be entered directly into a modern GPS receiver, navigation application or contemporary spatial dataset without applying the correct datum transformation.

Using AGD66 coordinates as though they were GDA94 or GDA2020 may produce a substantial positional discrepancy. For current field navigation, use modern mapping and ensure every coordinate source and navigation device is configured to the same datum.
