This copy of the iconic Norman Tindale map shows the distribution of the Aboriginal tribes of Australia, published in 1940. It even includes some of his notes in pencil along the bottom of the map.
Norman Tindale found fame for his work in mapping the different tribal groupings of indigenous Australians. The orthodoxy of his time was that Aboriginal people were completely nomadic but his studies posited significantly more precise tribal boundaries. While later research has evolved from this concept it was nevertheless a significant contribution to the understanding of the topic at the time.
We can laminate this replica map, which will allow you to draw on it or apply our map dots to locations of interest without permanently marking the map. The lamination makes the map very durable and protects against tears and stains.
