Frequently asked questions
Which Australia map should I buy for a road trip?
For a long road trip, the Hema Australia Road Atlas is the standard reference — it's been the touring atlas of choice for decades, and the current edition covers every sealed and most major unsealed roads. For glovebox use, a folded Hema Australia road map; for wall planning, the Hema laminated 1000 × 875mm. Pair the atlas with a state-specific folded map for any state you'll spend more than a day in.
What's the difference between Hema and UBD?
Hema specialises in touring, 4WD and broad-area mapping — their atlases and wall maps are the standard for road trips and outback travel. UBD Gregory's specialises in urban and suburban — city street directories, suburban wall maps, postcode maps, electoral maps. If you're driving between towns, you want Hema. If you're navigating Sydney's North Shore, you want UBD.
Do maps ship folded or rolled?
Folded maps and atlases ship folded as standard (flat versions on request — just contact us). Laminated wall maps and prints over A2 ship rolled in a sturdy tube to preserve the lamination and prevent creasing. Hang rails and canvas ship in tubes by default.
Do you carry maps for individual states and territories?
Yes — we have dedicated collections for every state and territory (links above), each carrying folded touring maps, wall maps, topographic series, 4WD guides and city/suburban UBD maps. The state collections include both Hema and local-publisher options where they exist.
Can I order custom or branded Australia maps?
Yes. Mapworld runs a custom mapping service for businesses needing branded or modified Australia maps — postcode and electoral overlays, sales-territory maps, healthcare service catchments, mining tenement maps, fleet planning and so on. Visit the custom mapping page or contact us for a quote.
How quickly do you ship?
Orders placed before 2pm AEST ship same-day from our Sydney warehouse. Free shipping on orders over $75 Australia-wide; $7 standard postage on smaller orders. Express options at checkout.
