1. About this Policy
This Shipping Policy explains how Mapworld processes, packs and delivers orders placed through mapworld.com.au, by telephone or by email.
Mapworld is operated by O'Keeffe Enterprises as Trustee for The MAPWORLD Trust, trading as MAPWORLD (ABN 56 143 667 206). Orders are generally dispatched from our premises in Willetton, Western Australia.
This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, Refund Policy and the delivery information displayed at checkout.
2. Australian Shipping Charges
Mapworld’s standard Australian shipping rates are:
| Order or service |
Shipping charge |
| Standard shipping on eligible Australian orders under $75 |
Flat rate of $7 |
| Standard shipping on eligible Australian orders over $75 |
Free |
| Express shipping |
Calculated and displayed at checkout |
| Oversized or special-freight items |
Any additional charge is displayed at checkout or agreed before dispatch |
Free shipping applies to eligible standard delivery within Australia. It does not apply to Express shipping or international orders. Some unusually large, heavy, fragile or remote-destination consignments may require special freight. Any additional charge will be disclosed before your order is accepted or dispatched.
Shipping promotions may have separate conditions stated with the offer.
3. Dispatch and Production Times
In-stock products are usually dispatched within one business day after payment and order details have been confirmed. Where operationally possible, in-stock weekday orders received before our daily carrier cut-off may be dispatched the same day.
Production time is separate from delivery time. Products that require printing, laminating, mounting, framing, custom sizing or another finish must be completed before dispatch. The product page or quotation may state a specific production time.
Timber hang rails are professionally fitted and may require up to 10 working days for completion before dispatch. Custom, personalised and print-on-demand orders may also require additional time depending on the product, finish, approval process and current production workload.
If an urgent deadline applies, please contact Mapworld before ordering. We will provide realistic guidance, but a deadline is guaranteed only if we expressly agree to it in writing.
4. Delivery Services
Mapworld uses Australia Post, including eParcel and Express Post, and may use StarTrack or another suitable courier for oversized, high-value or specialist consignments.
Most maps and parcels measuring up to approximately 1.05 metres are sent through Australia Post. Longer tubes, framed products, large globes and other oversized items may require a courier service.
Express orders are normally sent using Australia Post Express Post. Oversized express consignments may be sent using an appropriate StarTrack or courier service. Selecting Express shipping gives the order priority delivery through the selected carrier, but does not guarantee next-business-day arrival to every postcode.
5. Estimated Australian Delivery Times
The following estimates begin when the order is dispatched, not when it is placed:
| Delivery service |
Typical time after dispatch |
| Standard delivery |
Usually 2–7 business days |
| Express delivery |
Usually 1–3 business days |
| Regional and remote delivery |
May take 5–10 business days or longer |
| Oversized courier delivery |
Varies by destination and carrier |
These are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates. Weekends, public holidays, remote destinations, carrier congestion, severe weather, natural disasters and other disruptions may extend delivery times.
“Business day” generally means Monday to Friday, excluding relevant public holidays.
6. Packaging
We select packaging designed to protect the product while keeping freight practical:
-
Large flat maps, wall maps and posters are generally rolled and sent in protective mailing tubes.
-
Folded maps, books and smaller flat products may be sent in padded or reinforced envelopes or cartons.
-
Globes, framed maps, compasses and other three-dimensional or fragile products are packed in suitable protective cartons.
-
Very large maps, framed products and specialist items may require custom packaging or separate consignments.
Where practical, multiple products will be packed together. Products may be shipped separately where their sizes, availability or handling requirements differ.
7. Tracking and Delivery Notifications
Most parcels are sent using a trackable service. When tracking is available, the tracking number is normally emailed after dispatch and may also appear in your customer account.
Australia Post consignments can be checked through the official Australia Post tracking service.
Some small, flat and low-value orders may be sent using an untracked Australia Post letter service to keep standard shipping costs low. If tracking is essential, please select an available tracked or Express option or contact us before ordering.
Tracking information can take time to appear after a label is created or a parcel is collected. A “label created” or similar status does not necessarily mean that the parcel has reached the first scanning facility.
8. Signature and Authority to Leave
Some deliveries require a signature. If no authorised person is available, the carrier may leave a collection card, send an electronic notification, take the parcel to a collection point or attempt redelivery.
You may request authority to leave by adding clear instructions to your order, where the carrier and service allow it. Carriers may decline an unsafe or impracticable instruction.
If a parcel is left in accordance with your authority, it will generally be treated as delivered at the nominated location, subject to applicable law. Consider whether authority to leave is appropriate for high-value, oversized or weather-sensitive products.
9. Delivery Addresses and PO Boxes
Please check the recipient’s name, business name, street address, suburb, state, postcode, country, telephone number and email address before submitting an order.
Contact us immediately if an address needs to be changed. We can usually update it before dispatch, but an address change or redirection may not be possible after the carrier has received the parcel.
Australia Post orders may generally be delivered to PO Boxes and Parcel Lockers where the product and service are eligible. Oversized items and courier deliveries normally require a physical street address. If the supplied address is unsuitable, we will contact you for an alternative.
If a parcel is returned or requires redelivery because the address was materially incorrect or incomplete, we may ask you to pay the carrier’s reasonable additional delivery cost after notifying you.
10. Back Orders and Split Shipments
If part of an order is unavailable, we will contact you with reasonable options. These may include:
-
Waiting and sending the complete order together.
-
Sending available products first and the remaining products later.
-
Choosing an alternative product.
-
Cancelling the unavailable product for a refund.
If Mapworld agrees to split an Australian order because an item is backordered, the remaining item will normally be sent later without an additional standard shipping charge.
If we cannot supply an item within an agreed or reasonable time, you may cancel that item and receive a refund, subject to applicable law. Further information about delayed or undelivered purchases is available from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
11. Local Collection
Local collection may be available where it is offered at checkout or arranged with us in advance.
Please wait until we confirm that the order is ready before attending. Identification or the order confirmation may be required when collecting an order on someone else’s behalf.
Collection address:
Mapworld
Unit 2/14 Whyalla Street
Willetton WA 6155
Western Australia
Current contact details and opening hours are available on our Contact Mapworld page.
12. International Shipping
Mapworld ships eligible products to most countries. International shipping charges depend on destination, parcel dimensions, weight and the available carrier service. The charge is calculated at checkout where possible or provided by quotation.
Free Australian shipping offers do not apply to international orders.
International delivery times vary considerably. Customs processing, local postal services, import restrictions, security screening, tariffs, regional disruptions and remote destinations may cause delays outside Mapworld’s control.
Unless checkout expressly states otherwise, the recipient is responsible for import duties, customs charges, brokerage fees and local taxes imposed by the destination country. These amounts are not collected or controlled by Mapworld.
You are responsible for checking local import restrictions and providing information required for customs clearance. If a destination becomes unavailable or the actual freight cost becomes materially different because of carrier, tariff or customs changes, we will contact you before dispatch. You may accept the revised arrangement or cancel the affected order for a full refund.
Tracking and signature availability depend on the selected international service and the destination country.
13. Delivery Delays
If tracking shows a delay or the estimated delivery period has passed, please first check the carrier’s tracking information and then contact Mapworld if assistance is required.
We will make reasonable enquiries with the carrier and keep you informed of material developments. Carrier investigations can take several business days, particularly for international or remote deliveries.
We do not treat an estimated delivery date as a guarantee unless expressly agreed. However, nothing in this policy removes your rights if goods are not supplied within an agreed or reasonable time.
14. Lost Parcels
If a parcel appears lost, contact us at orders@mapworld.com.au with the order number and delivery details.
We may ask the carrier to investigate and may need confirmation from the recipient. If the parcel is confirmed lost, or has not been delivered within a reasonable time, we will provide an appropriate solution, which may include replacement or refund, in accordance with applicable law.
15. Parcels Damaged in Transit
Please inspect the parcel and its contents promptly after delivery. If an item arrives damaged:
-
Contact orders@mapworld.com.au as soon as practicable.
-
Provide the order number and a brief description of the damage.
-
Include clear photographs of the product, external packaging, shipping label and damaged area where possible.
-
Keep the item and packaging until we confirm whether they are needed for assessment or a carrier claim.
We will assess the issue and arrange an appropriate remedy. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and our Refund Policy remain unaffected.
16. Unclaimed and Returned Parcels
Parcels may be returned to Mapworld if they are unclaimed, refused, incorrectly addressed or cannot be delivered after reasonable carrier attempts.
If a parcel is returned, we will contact you to discuss redelivery, address correction or another appropriate solution. Where the failed delivery resulted from incorrect information, refusal or failure to collect, we may require payment of the carrier’s reasonable redelivery cost. Any refund or deduction will be handled reasonably and in accordance with applicable law.
17. Returns Are Separate from Shipping
This policy covers delivery of purchases to you. Sending a product back to Mapworld is governed by our Refund Policy.
Change-of-mind return postage may be the customer’s responsibility. Where goods are confirmed faulty, damaged, incorrectly described or incorrectly supplied, Mapworld will meet reasonable return costs where required by law.
18. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Shipping Policy when rates, carriers, services or legal requirements change. The version applying to an accepted order will be the version in effect when that order was accepted, unless a change benefits you or is required by law.
