The Future Mapping Company's Classic world map is a contemporary tribute to the familiar schoolroom map and is perfect for map-lovers of all ages.
This projection gives an unbiased balance between shape and size to the countries and continents. It is widely respected having been brought to prominence by the National Geographic. Arthur Robinson worked by eye to create this solution to the age-old problem of flattening a sphere, and we particularly enjoy the shapely curves of the meridian lines.
Such a classically good-looking map is worthy of some great colour, so the frosty old pastels of the schoolroom have been forsaken for vibrant, eye-popping inks that will make your map the centrepiece of any room. There is a colour scheme to suit every taste, from stately monochrome to brilliant hyper colour, all with the Future Mapping Companies' signature metallic seas and glossy landmasses.
This map is full of useful information; so do not be surprised if you are tempted to take it down the pub to settle an argument or two. Tectonic plates, sea depth layers, North and South Pole projections as well as the usual mountain ranges, rivers and city data, make this map an ideal point of reference for the whole family.
The Future Mapping Company uses the highest quality FSC approved silk-coated paper in their lithographic printing process, which works like a mechanised version of traditional screen-printing. A plate is made for each colour and then laid down individually, offering a stunning, quality print, with great definition and colour impact. A sealer is applied to protect the inks and gloss UV varnish used to add contrast and highlight boundaries.
This fantastic map comes laminated, making it very durable and versatile, you can draw on it and wipe it off afterwards, also you can place our Mark-It-Dots to show where you have been!
Warning: This map is approximately a million times more beautiful in real like than on your computer screen. The luminous colour and glossy metallics have been known to cause palpitations, so have a chair ready when it arrives.
